Pre-School (Ages 2 1/2 - 4 1/2)
This class emphasizes coordination and basic motor skills through imagination, songs, and movement with music and props (three levels of classes according to age). The foundation for Ballet & Tap is begun by teaching positions, preliminary dance steps, and progressions across the floor. In addition to dancing, children learn to take turns and share within a group.


Kinderdance
Combination Ballet & Tap class teaches coordination skills, rhythm, and basic terminology in a structured class environment. Children begin to count music, which improves their timing. This class provides students with the tools necessary to excel in higher levels of dance.



Ballet
Ballet is the foundation for all dance forms. Proper Ballet technique is important to the student’s development. This class concentrates on proper body placement through barre and center work, building muscle, improving posture, using correct terminology, and building high self-esteem in a technically-structured class.



Lyrical
Lyrical incorporates the use of balance, isolations, and extensions, along with techniques learned in ballet, jazz & modern dance to create physical interpretations of music. This form of dance lets students use their emotions while keeping with the classical training. This class requires two Ballet classes per week.



Pointe
When sufficient strength in Ballet is developed, students may take Pointe. Teacher recommendation and two Ballet classes per week are required.



Tap
Rhythm, timing, and tap terminology are taught in every level. Students learn to master tap steps such as Time Step, Buffalo, and Maxi Ford. Dance combinations are put to music the SKDS way!



Jazz
Jazz is a technique class with a variety of different styles ranging from NY, to music video, to the latest Broadway Musicals. Dance tricks, jumps, turns, extensions, kicks, splits and leaps make dance class upbeat and fun! This class builds and strengthens muscles as well as increases flexibility.



Hip-Hop
A favorite amongst teenagers, this class is a combination of Street style, MTV, and Funk with intense stretches. This class is offered for ages 7 & up.



Private Lessons
Teacher recommendation is required. All private lessons are 30 minutes each. A specific discipline of dance is selected and perfected during class.



Master Classes
Several times a year, professional choreographers from New York come in and teach a high impact master class. These teachers have appeared on Broadway and Television, as well as in Movies and National Tours.



Zumba
Ditch the Workout, Join the Party! Zumba routines feature interval-training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Participants are constantly engaged and entertained with the variety of rhythms including salsa, merengue, belly dancing, cumbia, flamenco, hip-hop, reggaeton, and more!
