ASK SUSIE!

Q: My child is five years old and has no prior dance experience. What type of dance class do you recommend?
A: We recommend that your child take the Kinderdance ballet & tap combination class. This is an introduction to both disciplines of dance. Important core techniques and positions are taught in this class.

Q: When and where do you have your dance recitals?
A: Our recitals are annually held on the first Saturday of June. This year we will be having two performances, one for younger students and one for older students. The recital will be held at Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield.

Q: How many students do you have in each class?
A: Class sizes have a maximum of 15 students. All Pre-School I, II, Kinderdance Combination and Jazz classes with more than 9 students will have two teachers in the classroom.

Q: What is included in the price of the costumes?
A: All students receive their costumes on a hanger, steamed and covered ready for the show. All costumes come with tights and any accessories needed. Alterations are also included in the fee. We strongly believe that our parents should have a hassle free and enjoyable recital experience without worrying about last minute costuming issues.

Q: What does my child need to wear for dance class?
A: Studio policy and dress code is: Pink, Black or Maroon leotard with Pink, Tan, White or Black tights. Dance shorts and ballet skirts are also accepted. No street clothes are permitted.

Q: What types of shoes are needed?
A: This will depend on which class your child is taking. Please refer to the Shoe List available at the desk.

Q: What happens when my child misses a class?
A:Make-up classes are available for any missed classes. No refunds or adjustment in tuition will be made for any reason. Make up classes must be completed before the end of the year.

Q: Where can I purchase dancewear and shoes for my child?
A: SKDS is your one stop dance shop! For your convenience, all dancewear and shoes needed for class can be purchased at the studio.

Q: When can the parents watch dance class?
A: Parent Observation is available twice a year. Please bring your cameras and video camera for memories to cherish for a lifetime!
